Dr Laura Proudfoot is a UK and US-trained consultant dermatologist. She studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh where she was also awarded an honours degree in Psychology. She undertook specialist dermatology training at the internationally renowned St John’s Institute of Dermatology, London. This included 3 years of research characterising inflammation in epidermolysis bullosa, a genetically inherited blistering disease, which culminated in the award of a PhD degree in Genetics and Molecular Medicine.
She has published extensively in the dermatology and cutaneous pathology literature and has presented nationally and internationally at dermatology and scientific meetings.
Dr Proudfoot was then selected for a prestigious fellowship in paediatric dermatology at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern University, the largest paediatric dermatology service in the US, gaining expertise in the diagnosis and management of skin disease in children.
Alongside her private work at the Harley Street Dermatology Clinic, Dr Proudfoot is a substantive consultant dermatologist and paediatric dermatologist at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Proudfoot is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, the British Society of Paediatric Dermatology, the Society for Pediatric Dermatology and the Royal Society of Medicine. She consults on all general dermatology in both adults and children including eczema, acne, psoriasis, alopecia, vascular lesions, birthmarks and mole checks and performs intralesional steroid injections. She has specialist expertise in skin disease affecting babies, children and teenagers.
