Dr Charles Archer is a UK trained Consultant Dermatologist. He is a registered specialist with the General Medical Council. His NHS Consultant post is split between The Royal Berkshire Hospitals and Oxford University Hospitals. He completed his undergraduate medical degree at University College London followed by dermatology specialist training in the Thames Valley region after a period of time in Sydney, Australia.
Dr Archer sees both adult and paediatric patients. He has a special interest in skin cancer and dermatological surgery and the use of lasers as well as complex medical dermatology. He consults on all aspects of general dermatology including acne, acne scarring, eczema, psoriasis and benign and malignant skin lesions.
Dr Archer is the current skin cancer lead for dermatology at the Royal Berkshire Hopsital and runs the biologics clinic for complex medical dermatology patients.
His research interests include skin ageing, stem cell research techniques and the role of gene therapy, and the immunopathogenesis of eczema. He completed a Masters Degree at University of Oxford and the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine looking at a role of the immune system in the development of eczema. He practices evidenced based medicine and is actively involved in the recruitment for clinical trials for emerging treatments. He is passionate about medical education and lectures at both the University of Oxford and Reading University.
Away from work Dr Archer is a keen sportsman. Having played fly-half for United Hospitals (UH) and competed at a national level in tennis. He now enjoys real tennis, golf and tennis with his young family.
